Administration of Deceased Estates

Administration of Deceased Estates is the process and procedure of attending to and concluding the affairs of a deceased and ensuring that their testamentary directives are adhered and given effect to. The estate of every deceased person, irrespective of status, must be reported to the authorities in terms of the Administration of Deceased Estates Act No. 66 of 1965 (as amended) and thereafter administered whether the deceased has a validly executed will or not. The institution authorised in terms of the aforementioned enabling legislation to oversee the administration process and procedures is the designated Master’s office within a prescribed jurisdiction of a High Court.
